Currently grown at farms in Holland, California, Michigan, Virginia, and Canada, these beloved blooms have been cultivated for over 500 years. Once the most expensive flower in the world, in the 1600s, when tulips were first introduced to Holland, they became so widely popular that an economy of trading, referred to as, "Tulip Mania," grew seemingly overnight. This trend was short-lived however, and when the tulip economy crashed, so did the fortunes of many of the Dutch.
